This is a spreading small to medium tree with a distinctive pinnate leaf. The tree is commonly found in places such as Meikleville Hill and the Beach Scrub along Farnborough and near Bargara. The distinctive new growth is quite attractive and can be pale pink or green. The intriguing yellow fruits split open to reveal the red flesh around the seed. The fruit is eaten by the Fig Bird and Metallic Starling. Larvae of the the large purple-lined blue butterfly feed on the flowers and young leaves. It is well suited to smaller gardens as it does not have an invasive root system and once established is drought hardy.
